Bring VR180 media
into your view.
Watch live. Export your captures. View in VR.
From your camera or portable drive to an immersive viewing experience.
01 / SLAM XRLINKOne app. Four ways to watch.
SLAM XRLINK brings camera streaming, camera files, local media and OTG storage into one simple VR interface. Check your connection, export captured media to your headset, and watch VR180 stereo videos and photos.
Stream
The default home screen. Watch the live camera feed, check status, disconnect or reconnect.
Camera files
Read DCIM/VR180 on the camera and export selected videos and photos to the headset.
Local files / Album
Watch exported media, filter the list and manage local copies in batches.
OTG storage
Authorize a folder on a connected drive, then browse and play its media directly in VR.
02 / SLAM XRLINKGetting started
- Install and open SLAM XRLINK on Quest 3 or a PICO 4 series headset. Use SLAM LINK on the camera.
- Wake the controllers. If Quest says controllers are required, connect them before opening the app. A sideloaded app may appear under Unknown Sources.
- The app opens on Stream. Choose Stream, Camera files, Local files or OTG storage for your task.
- Aim the controller ray at a button. When it highlights, press the trigger. A normal button activates once per press; fully release before pressing again.
03 / SLAM XRLINKWatch the live camera feed
- Connect the camera and headset. For wired streaming, use a USB data cable. For wireless streaming, use the same reachable Wi-Fi network.
- In camera-side SLAM LINK, select the matching PICO or Quest target, set the stream options and start sending.
- Open Stream in the headset and check the connection status. Watch the camera feed once connected.
| Action | What it does |
|---|---|
| Connection status | Check whether the headset is receiving camera frames. |
| Disconnect | Stop receiving on the headset. Sending is controlled separately on the camera. |
| Reconnect | Resume or retry receiving. If the camera has stopped sending, restart its stream as well. |
04 / SLAM XRLINKExport from camera to headset
- Connect the camera to the headset with a USB data cable and select File transfer mode on the camera.
- Open Camera files. Allow SLAM XRLINK to access the camera when the USB permission prompt appears.
- The app reads MP4, JPG, JPEG and PNG files in
DCIM/VR180. Filter by All, Video or Photo, select items or use Select all. - Choose Export and wait for completion. Keep the devices connected; use Cancel if you need to stop.
- Open Local files / Album and select a video or photo to watch.
05 / SLAM XRLINKWatch media from OTG storage
- Connect a portable drive or USB flash drive to Quest 3 and open OTG storage.
- On first use, read the in-app guidance and choose Choose folder & allow access.
- A separate system folder picker opens. Select the external drive, such as T7, enter the folder you want to browse, then choose Use this folder and Allow. Exact wording depends on the system.
- Return to SLAM XRLINK to open folders, filter media and play files within the VR panel. No copy to the headset is required first.
- Use Up to return to a parent folder within the authorized location. Use Choose folder to authorize a different location.
06 / SLAM XRLINKControl playback. Keep the view clear.
| Symbol | Control | How to use it |
|---|---|---|
| Three-line menu | Switch between Stream, Camera files, Album and OTG storage, or choose a language. | |
| Back arrow | Stop viewing and return to the previous file list, keeping its position and filters. | |
| Play / Pause | Control video playback. Photos do not need playback or pause. | |
| Previous / Next | Move between adjacent files in the current filtered list. | |
| Back / Forward 10 seconds | Jump within the current video. | |
| —●— | Timeline | Aim and click to seek. Press and hold on the timeline, then move to adjust continuously. |
| − / + | Volume slider | Click the slider, or press and hold on it to drag and adjust video volume. |
| Hide controls | Collapse the controls to clear the viewing area. |
07 / SLAM XRLINKChoose and remember a projection
Select a projection directly to the right of Next. The active mode is highlighted. Match the selection to the actual image format in the file.
| Button | Use for |
|---|---|
| VR180 3D | Side-by-side VR180 videos or photos already unwrapped to equirectangular projection (ERP). |
| Fisheye VR180 3D | Side-by-side VR180 media with a fisheye image for each eye. This is the default for ordinary files. |
Lock a format for a batch of files
- Select the correct projection, then enable the lock button.
- While locked, subsequent files use the saved projection across folders and app restarts. Selecting another projection while locked updates the saved choice.
- Turning the lock off immediately restores Fisheye. Ordinary files opened afterward also default to Fisheye.
Google metadata VR180 stereo photos
V1.0.28 reads the embedded right-eye image from Google XMP / Extended XMP and combines it with the main image and crop information to reconstruct a stereo photo. When unlocked, recognized photos use equirectangular projection automatically. When locked, the saved user selection takes priority. If such a photo looks distorted, unlock and reopen it, or select VR180 3D directly.
08 / SLAM XRLINKManage local media and language
Filtering and batch management
- In the local album, use All, Video or Photo and the page buttons to find files.
- Choose Manage, select multiple files or use Select all. Choosing Select all again when everything is selected clears the selection.
- Choose Delete, then confirm. This deletes headset copies only; camera originals remain unchanged.
- Choose Done to leave management mode.
| Media | Headset location |
|---|---|
| Videos | Movies/SLAMXRLINK/ |
| Photos | Pictures/SLAMXRLINK/ |
The local album shows media exported by the app. Use OTG storage for external drives. When no thumbnail is available, the file type and name are shown.
Chinese and English
Use 中 / EN on the home or file screen, or access Language through the three-line menu during playback. On first use, Chinese system languages default to Chinese; English and other system languages default to English. A manual selection is remembered and takes priority over the system language.
09 / SLAM XRLINKCommon questions
Camera files is empty
Check File transfer mode, USB permission, and supported files under DCIM/VR180. Reconnect and choose Refresh.
The OTG drive is missing or cannot be read
Confirm that the headset system recognizes the drive. Use Choose folder to select a directory on that drive and allow access. If you cancelled the prompt, retry from the guidance screen.
A photo looks split or stereo looks wrong
Check that ordinary sources are side-by-side. Google VR180 photos must retain their embedded metadata; resaving with a normal image editor may remove the right eye. Also check the projection and lock state.
Why does a Google photo reopen in VR180 3D after unlocking?
Unlocking restores the Fisheye default, but opening a recognized Google VR photo automatically selects equirectangular projection from its metadata. Ordinary files still default to Fisheye.
A video will not play or is not smooth
Check file integrity. MP4 is a container; playback depends on the headset’s codec, resolution and frame-rate support, plus storage and connection speed. Try a short, lower-resolution video first.
How do I return to the file list?
Open the controls and select the back arrow at the upper left. If the controls are hidden, first click the small circular button with the controller.
Next or another control is temporarily unavailable
Some actions are disabled during file reads, photo decoding or export. Wait for completion and fully release the trigger before pressing again.
Choose your media. Put on your headset.
Start with Stream, or bring media from your camera and drive into VR.
